The temperature of the condensing water discharged from the steam drum of the evaporating tank is higher than that of the steam drum of the next effect tank. If the pressure is reduced in a container to produce self-evaporation, the steam of the self-evaporation tank can be used for heating the low-effect evaporation tank or the corresponding heater. This equipment is called a self-evaporation tank. ​The self- evaporating tank has two kinds: column type and horizontal type.

Column self-evaporating tank

It is mainly composed of bottom tube 1, intermediate tube 2, casing 3, diffusion tube 4, apparatus body 5, etc. The intermediate pipe and the sleeve are installed at the same heart, and the lower end of the intermediate pipe is provided with a hole to communicate the inside and outside of the pipe. The self-evaporating tank in the multi-effect evaporation device is connected in this way: a pipe is used to connect the condensing water outlet of the former effect steam drum with the self-evaporating bottom cylinder; ​the top exhaust outlet is connected with an evaporation pipe into the next effect steam drum. In this way, the condensing water of the previous effect can enter from the bottom of the self-evaporator. The steam generated by self-evaporation can be directed to the steam drum of the next effect for heating, and the remaining condensing water can be continuously discharged to the self-evaporation tank of the next effect. The pressure of the body space is roughly equal to that of the steam drum of the next effect.

Principle of action
Due to the water column in the evaporative tank, the pressure difference between the front and rear effect steam drum is balanced, so that the elevated pressure steam in the former effect steam drum will not directly flow into the next effect steam drum. The condensing water formed in the primary steam drum enters the bottom cylinder of the self-evaporator and rises from the middle tube. In the process of rising, the pressure is gradually reduced and the steam - water mixture is formed in the upper part of the intermediate pipe. In this way, the severe γH of the vapor-liquid mixture in the middle tube is smaller than that of the water in the outer space, that is, γm<γH.

Thus, water in the annular space can enter the intermediate pipe through the hole at the lower end of the intermediate pipe. Because the temperature of the annular space is low, after entering the intermediate tube, the temperature of the condensation water in the intermediate tube drops, so that the position generated by the evaporation moves upward; ​and can shorten the height of the self-evaporating tank. Assuming that this section is at the E-E section in the figure above, the pure water column below E-E plays the main role of water seal, and the vapor-liquid mixture above E-E. If the floor is steep, the casing may not be needed.

Due to the circulation effect of condensation water in the autogenous tank, autogenous evaporation can be carried out in a higher place. Meanwhile, since the top of the middle tube is a diffusion tube, the steam produced by autogenous evaporation can unfold smoothly until small sash. The return flow is typically 5~9 times of the hot condensing water entering the intermediate pipe. When the floor height of the evaporation tank is low, the return flow should take a larger value.

The structure of the column self-evaporation tank is extremely simple, no moving parts, will not produce mechanical failure. Safe and reliable operation, no manual management, and have the function of condensing water excluder. Therefore, the self-evaporating tank has become the common equipment in the standard thermal process.

Horizontal self-evaporating tank construction
The column type self-evaporation tank is suitable for the evaporation device installed on the higher floor, for the low floor of the evaporation tank, it is not convenient to install the column type self-evaporation tank. At this time, the horizontal self - evaporation tank can be used. ​The horizontal self-evaporation tank structure is also simpler, it is a horizontal closed cylinder, installed under the evaporation tank.

Method of connection
The piping connection method of each horizontal self-evaporating tank is:

(1) Connect to the steam drum of the previous effect for the introduction of condensing water;

(2) Connect the steam drum of the next effect to introduce the steam generated by self-evaporation into the steam drum for heating;

(3) Connect with the next self-evaporating tank so that the condensing water after self-evaporation can be sent to the next self-evaporating tank.

Since the liquid level of the self-evaporating tank is low and there is not sufficient liquid column water seal, it is necessary to install the evaporating water excluder in the pipeline where the equipment introduces and draws the evaporating water, so that the evaporating water can be discharged but the steam can be prevented from being discharged.

Water is normally filled to half the height, so that there is a large empty valve for the separation of steam and liquid. Each condensing pipe is as close as possible to the self-evaporating tank and is introduced from the bottom of the self-evaporating tank. It is better to use a T-fitting at the turn, with a valve at one end of the T-fitting for draining and emptying.

​Baffles can be installed in the tank, divided into compartments. Under normal circumstances, the condensing water of the previous effect is discharged to the self-evaporation tank of the next effect for continuous self-evaporation, but when the water of the self-evaporation tank of the following effect is too full, it can be sent to the next self-evaporation tank through the bypass pipe through the valve controlled by the liquid level.
